STANLIB Namibia has committed N$106,976.46 to support three first-year Bachelor of Chartered Accounting students at the University of Namibia, in a bursary handover held at the Vice-Chancellor’s Office on the UNAM Main Campus, on 15 June.
The funding will cover essential educational needs for Maria Immanuel, Marthin Iilonga, and Emuno Iipenge as they begin their degrees, easing the financial pressure that often determines whether a student can stay enrolled.

Mr Evaristus Evaristus, Assistant Executive Director of the UNAM Foundation, welcomed STANLIB to the handover and thanked the company for the difference such contributions make in students’ lives.
Representing the University’s executive leadership, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Administration & Finance, Professor Ellen Ndeshi Namhila, said financial support is one of the most direct ways to help students reach graduation.
“Education remains one of the most powerful tools for transforming lives and building a stronger nation,” said Prof. Namhila. “This bursary does not simply provide financial assistance; it removes barriers that often stand between talented students and their academic aspirations.”
She assured STANLIB that the University would hold its academic standards and give the students the support they need to succeed.

“We are grateful for STANLIB’s confidence in our students and in the University of Namibia. We remain dedicated to creating an environment where students can thrive academically and develop into future leaders and professionals who will contribute meaningfully to Namibia’s development,” she added.
Ms Mbazima Mayase, Risk & Compliance Officer at STANLIB Namibia, said the company was proud to invest in young Namibians, and urged the three beneficiaries to make the most of every opportunity ahead of them.
Speaking for the students, Maria Immanuel said the bursary meant more to them than the funding alone.

“This bursary is a life-changing opportunity for us. We are deeply grateful to STANLIB and UNAM for believing in our potential and investing in our future. We will work diligently to make the most of this opportunity and strive for academic excellence,” she said.
For Maria, Marthin, and Emuno, the handover marks the start of their studies, and the backing of two institutions betting on what they will do next.
