The University of Namibia has moved its strategy from paper to practice. At Katima Mulilo Campus, the Integrated Strategic Business Plan (ISBP) 2025–2030 came alive as a shared institutional commitment.
This was not just another launch, it marked the start of a campus-driven journey to align everyday actions with UNAM’s long-term vision. The engagement signalled a clear shift: strategy is now everyone’s business.

The University’s ISBP awareness drive commenced at Katima Mulilo Campus from 02 – 03 March 2026. Staff, students, alumni and leadership gathered to initiate a university-wide process anchored in the theme Your Role, Our Success (Y-ROS).
The presence of executive leadership reinforced the importance of the moment. It underscored a deliberate move to ensure the strategy is understood, owned and implemented across all campuses.
“The ISBP is our collective roadmap for the next phase of UNAM’s growth and relevance,” said Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Kenneth Matengu. “Its success will be determined by how effectively we align our daily actions to its priorities across all campuses.”
Katima Mulilo Campus Director, Prof. Samwel Mafilwa, called for collaboration and efficient use of resources. He encouraged the campus community to actively contribute to institutional success. “The ISBP provides a clear framework for how each campus contributes to the University’s overall success,” said Prof. Mafilwa. “At Katima Mulilo, we are committed to translating this strategy into practical actions that deliver real impact.”

“The success of the ISBP will depend on how well each of us understands our role and translates it into action,” said Mr. Fanuel Hiiko, Director: Directorate of Strategic Institutional Planning. “This engagement is about ensuring that strategy becomes part of daily work across the University.”

Inside the two-day ISBP engagement programme
The two-day programme was structured to build both understanding and participation. Day one focuses on unpacking the ISBP’s key pillars, priorities and objectives through presentations and dialogue.
Day two shifts to engagement and reflection. It features open question-and-answer sessions, alongside team-building activities to strengthen collaboration and shared commitment.

The rollout will extend across all 12 UNAM campuses between 02 and 25 March 2026. Katima Mulilo Campus has set the tone for a process that places people at the centre of strategy execution.
