The Bachelor of Education in Organizational Learning and Development (BOLD) programme at the University of Namibia is gaining recognition as a valuable educational opportunity for individuals interested in becoming qualified and competent Learning and Development professionals.

At a recent Thursday Lunch Seminar, Mr Vaino Muvale, Chief Learning and Development Officer in the Ministry of Justice, emphasised the importance of this programme in “equipping graduates with the knowledge and skills needed to keep organisations competitive in the 21st century”.

As technological advances continue to transform the digital landscape, organisations require individuals with expertise in reskilling and retraining to remain effective and relevant. The BOLD programme aims to address this need by providing graduates with appropriate knowledge, skills and competencies to engage in organisational learning and development interventions for adult clientele in both the private and public sectors.

During the seminar, Dr Sadrag Shihomeka, Head of Department for Higher Education and Lifelong Learning (HEALL), emphasised the importance of the BOLD programme in equipping graduates with knowledge and skills in sustainability, corporate strategy and entrepreneurship, digital media and innovation, managing projects, professional ethics, instructional design and material development and adult learning and development.

Graduates of the BOLD programme have the opportunity to pursue careers as Chief Organisational Learning and Development Officers, Organisational Learning and Development Officers, Talent and Event Management Officers, Human Resources Development Officers, Training Officers, and more.

Looking to the future, Mr Muvale stressed the importance of HEALL’s development of postgraduate programmes in Learning and Development, “to enable career growth and articulation from the BOLD”. The BOLD programme also provides attributes such as knowledge creation and dissemination, critical and creative thinking, environmental awareness, social responsibility, global citizenship with an international perspective and ethical and moral leadership acumen.
