The University of Namibia (UNAM) and Indonesia-based Parahyangan Catholic University (UNPAR) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will foster academic exchange between the two institutions.
The bilateral agreement signing took place in November 2021 at the Indonesian Embassy in Windhoek, in which the UNAM Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kenneth Matengu and representatives of UNPAR signed the agreement.
At the signing ceremony, Prof. Kenneth Matengu remarked that: “UNAM is committed to this partnership and will as quickly as possible set up measures to facilitate the student exchange programme, joint hosting of seminars, conferences and guest lectures.”
He further pointed out that: “UNAM will nominate two or three people who will steer this operation and help with the activities, planning, as well as monitoring and evaluation of this collaboration each year.”
The collaboration between the two institutions of higher education will consist of joint co-operation in various activities such as collaborative research and exchange programmes for staff, students and researchers.
The five-year alliance will also feature cooperation in industrial attachments, community service between the two countries, joint research conferences, seminars and symposiums. The MoU will be valid for a period of 5 years and might be extended once this period has lapsed.
Present at the signing ceremony was the Executive Dean: Faculty of Commerce, Management and Law, Dr. Jacob Nyambe, and UNPAR Rector, Dr. Mangadar Situmorang, among many other staff members from both institutions.
