UNAM continues its impactful community engagement through initiatives aimed at motivating and guiding the youth.
Recently, Dr. Klaudia Talohole Angula, a Senior Technologist from the School of Pharmacy in UNAM’s Faculty of Health Sciences & Veterinary Medicine, delivered an inspirational talk to Grade 11 learners at Flamingo Secondary School in Walvis Bay.
Organised by a teacher at the school, Ms. Helena Nakanyala, who recognised the potential of Dr. Angula’s professional journey to inspire learners, the event aimed to address challenges related to student motivation and direction.
The engagement featured prominent local figures, including renowned entrepreneur Ms. Estelle Tjipuka, who donated 100 copies of her internationally acclaimed book, “Breaking Barriers,” and Mr. Ararikyi Shikongo, a Marine Biologist and Educator from Ocean Conservation Namibia, who highlighted promising careers within the ocean industry.
Representing UNAM, Dr. Angula emphasised academic excellence, discipline, and proper conduct as foundational elements for future success.
“Learners should understand that meeting minimum admission requirements does not guarantee automatic entry, as selection is highly competitive and based on merit,” she clarified, providing critical insights into admission processes at the Faculty of Health Sciences & Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Angula also passionately advocated for increased female participation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) careers.
“It’s vital to encourage young girls to pursue STEM careers, aligning perfectly with initiatives like the Faculty for the Future Fellowship that empower women in science,” she highlighted.
This motivational outreach stresses UNAM’s promise to advancing educational opportunities, bridging academia with community, and enhancing social impact. Through Dr. Angula’s dedication and collaborative efforts, UNAM continues to actively inspire and shape Namibia’s next generation of leaders and innovators.
