Ogongo Campus embraces ISPB and commits to driving it forward

The University of Namibia’s (UNAM) Ogongo Campus has demonstrated strong enthusiasm and commitment towards the implementation of the Integrated Strategic Business Plan (ISBP), as staff gathered for an engaging and participatory rollout session aimed at aligning the campus with the University’s long-term vision.

Welcoming attendees, the Campus Director Dr. Christoph Mberema described the session as an important opportunity for collective engagement and reflection. He expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting that it provides a platform for staff to step away from their daily routines and meaningfully engage with the University’s strategic direction.

Dr Mberema highlighted the significance of the newly crafted management plan, emphasising that: “This clearly links university-wide initiatives with campus-specific activities.” He noted that this alignment enables staff to better understand their role within the broader institutional framework and fosters a more cohesive approach to implementation.

Addressing staff, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Prof. Frednard Gideon, called on all staff  – from lecturers to those caring for livestock to take the strategic plan seriously. He reiterated the critical role of inclusivity and collective responsibility in driving the strategy forward. Prof. Gideon urged all staff members, regardless of their roles, to actively participate, emphasising that “this strategy is not going to be driven by anyone else rather than you.”

Prof Gideon further highlighted that meaningful impact can only be achieved through shared understanding and collaboration. He encouraged staff to engage deeply with the process, noting that their contributions are essential to ensuring the successful execution of the University’s strategic objectives.

Providing an overview of the rollout programme, Director of Strategic Institutional Planning, Mr Fanuel Hiiko, explained that the session was designed to equip staff with a comprehensive understanding of the ISBP and its implementation over the next five years. He noted that the strategy is the outcome of an extensive consultative process involving staff, students, alumni, and stakeholders.

As the ISBP rollout continues across UNAM campuses, the engagement at Ogongo Campus stands as a testament to the University’s commitment to collaboration, strategic alignment, and inclusive growth.
